The Four Pauls
This site was created and is maintained by Paul Alexis Cifaldi IV, the fourth Paul.
The name
According to a 1924 history from the Italian Heraldic Office in Florence, the name began as Ciffaldo, with a man who helped lead the 1363 revolt against Venice on Crete. His descendants fought for Venice at Chioggia and Lepanto, and carried cargo along the Adriatic. They eventually settled in Campolattaro, a hill town near Benevento, where the spelling became Cifaldi. Dr. Alessio Cifaldi was born there in 1880 and brought the name to New York. His son was the first Paul.
